Zookeeper v3.4.6 - Standalone

ZooKeeper is a centralized service for maintaining configuration information, naming, providing distributed synchronization, and providing group services. All of these kinds of services are used in some form or another by distributed applications.

What it installs.

Installs Zookeeper V 3.4.6 on Oracle Java8

Quick Service test

The Zookeper service is automatically started following install. You can use the zookeeper client to test the connection, or telnet to port 2181.

Starting and Stopping the Service

To start and stop the service

  • sudo service zookeeper start
  • sudo service zookeeper stop

Config locations and key variables

  • The data directory is set to - /var/lib/zookeeper
  • The log files can be found here - /var/log/zookeeper
  • Install location - /var/lib/zookeeper

Security

  • Zookeeper exposes port 2181
  • Zookeeper support kerberos security. A configuration guide can be found here -
